Build a New Drive: On the Welcome screen, click Create New PledgeDriver. This launches three consecutive screens that allow you to format a drive plan. After entering the data, click Next to move to the next screen in the sequence. The final step is to click Finished – Create Pledge Drive!
Station Information: The data entered here is automatically inserted into scripts that have the tokens [DRIVE_NAME], [STATION_NAME], [STATION_PHONE] and [STATION_WEBSITE]. Enter the information as you want it to appear in your scripts and how your pitchers should say it on the air. You can make changes to the information in this window at any time without endangering your drive plan.
Change the Drive Name: On the toolbar under Plan, select Station Information. At Pledge Drive Title, enter your drive name as you want it to appear in your output and click Update Station Info. Messages containing [DRIVE_NAME] tokens will draw from the information entered here.
Schedule Template: Enter your schedule information carefully. Making certain changes after you've built your planning grid will cause you to lose that data. This template constructs your hourly grid based on maximums. Set the Start Date for your drive. Duration means the total number of days in the drive. For Start Time, enter the earliest time during the week that you will be pitching. In Hours/Day, enter the length of the longest day you will be pitching. In the Breaks/Hour box, enter the largest number of pledge breaks per hour – 6 is the maximum at this time. Break Notes text lines can contain up to 100 characters. All text lines will print out at the top of the first page of each break regardless of where they appear on your grid. If you need to make changes to your schedule template after you have data in your planning grid, call or email for assistance.
Add a Day: Under Days on the toolbar, select Add Day. Give your new day the next number in your sequence of days. The day will not automatically be given a planning grid - you'll have to build it manually. The easiest way to do this is to copy/paste a blank day or blank hours to your new day.
Changes Dates without Regenerating Your Plan (and losing all your grid work): Under Plan on the toolbar, select Schedule Template. Click on "edit dates for individual pledge drive days" to open a window that allows you to re-date the existing drive without regenerating. Click on Update Dates. The new dates will appear in your output, even though the date has not changed in your Schedule Template window.
Programming Setup: This screen allows you to list the program names or day-parts involved during pitching. These names will fill [PROGRAM_NAME] tokens in the scripts. Your programming list is unique to your account and are carried forward into future drive plans. Then click Add Show and continue adding shows to your list. You can add or delete programs later.
Subsequent Drives: You can amend your last drive or start from scratch. You can change the dates in the Schedule Template window by clicking on "edit dates for individual pledge drive days." Caution: If you regenerate your plan you will lose everything in your grid. Your private script bins and program names will carry forward into your new drive plans.
Recycle an Old Drive: Spring 2008 can be re-used and tweaked for Spring 2009. Update the drive's title: On the toolbar under Plan, select Station Information. At Pledge Drive Title, enter your new drive name as you want it to appear in your scripts and click Update Station Info. Messages containing [DRIVE_NAME] tokens will draw from the information entered here. Copy an Entire Day from One Drive to Another: Just as you can select, copy, and paste an entire day within a drive plan, you can select, copy, and paste from an old drive to a new one. Open the drive from which you wish to copy. Under Days on the toolbar, click on the desired day, then reopen the Days menu and click Copy Selected Day. Then, under Home on the toolbar go back to PledgeDriver Home Page and open the drive to which you want to paste the selected day. Under Days on the toolbar, select the day to be pasted upon ("replaced") and click Replace (#___) with (#___).
Practice Drive: You are welcome to set up a practice drive in your account while you are learning to use PledgeDriver or if you want to experiment with formats without danger of altering a current drive plan. You may also set up a Test bin to experiment with entering and editing scripts.
Deleting a Drive: To delete a drive, select and open the drive to be deleted from your home page menu. From the toolbar, open the Plan pull-down menu and select Delete. Select the delete options in the popups that follow. If, during this particular drive's set up, you added program names to your list on the Programming setup screen, these names may disappear with the drive. Just re-enter those program names again in your new drive setup.
Build a Template for Specialized Grids: If your grid scheme varies from what is easily set up in PledgeDriver, consider building a one-day drive and call it Template. You can save time by copying and pasting this grid scheme a day at a time into your future drives as explained above in the Copy an Entire Day section.
