Program Names: Each hour of your drive should have a corresponding program name selected from the pulldown menu at the left on the hour's blue heading. The selected program name will infill the [PROGRAM_NAME] token when you select scripts with this token. Program names were entered when you initially created your PledgeDriver template and may be added at any time by opening the Programming screen found under the Plan menu on the toolbar.
Grid Proportions: Place your cursor on the frame between the grid and the script bins and use the "east-west" arrow to change the proporation of both sides on your screen. Save this proportion by going to Options on the toolbar and clicking on Save Window Settings.
Collapse/Open Grid Hours: Click the boxes marked – and + on the grid hour bars to collapse or open the grid boxes. This is useful for eliminating the distraction of empty non-pitching hours or closing hours that are completed.
Case/Close Boxes – Populating the Grid with Scripts: Each grid line marked CASE/CLOSE accepts case and close script identifiers (ex. *NM28). To enter a case script into the grid, left-click on the title of a CASE script in the Script Chooser – the title highlighter should turn from light yellow to dark blue. Next, click on a space on the left side of the / line to insert that script’s identifier into the grid. Don’t click and drag – click, release, then click again. To enter a close script, left-click on the script name in the CLOSE bin. Then click on a space to the right of the / line to insert that script’s identifier into the grid. PledgeDriver will not let you enter a case or close script on the wrong side of the /.
Previewing Scripts in the Grid (right click): After script entries onto the grid have been saved, you can right click on a script ID in the grid to open a pop-up with that script’s text.
Text Rows (including Break Notes): You can type or copy/paste up to 100 characters into each cell in these rows. Regardless of their position in your planning grid hour, all text lines will appear at the top of the first page of your printed or monitor output, so they are best used for producer's notes. Text lines can be re-named to accommodate your plan (ex. Host/Co-Host, Premiums, Matches, etc.).
Renaming Text Rows: Double click the existing name of the row at the left hand edge of the grid and type the new name.
Add Case/Close or Text Rows to an Hour: From the Days menu on the toolbar, select the day. Then from the Hours menu in the toolbar select the hour to which you want to add a row. (A checkmark should appear in the grid's blue header for the selected hour.) When you've selected a day and hour, the Rows menu will appear on the toolbar. From the Rows menu select the type of row you wish to add (case/close or text). The new row will be added at the bottom of that hour's grid. However, in the printout, Case/Close rows will keep their position, but text rows will be gathered at the top of your break even though they appear at the bottom of the hour's grid.
Delete Case/Close or Text Rows from an Hour: As in adding a row, select the day and hour from which you want to delete a row. From the Rows menu, select the specific row to be deleted. Re-open the Rows menu and click Delete.
Consider Building a Template for Specialized Grids: If your grid scheme varies from what is easily set up in PledgeDriver, consider building a one-day drive and call it Template. You can save time by copying and pasting this grid scheme a day at a time into your future drives.
Add a Day: Under Days on the toolbar, select Add Day. Give your new day the next number in your sequence of days. The day will not automatically be given a planning grid - you'll have to build it manually. The easiest way to do this is to copy/paste a blank day or blank hours to your new day.
Add an Hour: Select the day from the Day menu. From the Hours menu select Add Hour. The new hour will be added at the end of the selected day. Add the appropriate case/close and text rows one at a time or copy an empty hour with the desired format as explained below. Adding an hour will not interfer with data already entered in your grid.
Duplicate or Copy an Hour to Another Hour: From the Hours menu select the hour you wish to copy. A checkmark will appear before that hour in the menu and also on that hour's blue header in the grid. Re-open the Hours menu and click on Copy Selected Hour. Re-open the Hours menu and select the hour you wish to overwrite. Re-open the Hours menu and click on Replace.
Copy an Hour to an Hour on a Different Day: From the Hours menu, select the hour you wish to copy. Re-open the Hours menu and click on Copy Selected Hour. Ope the Days menu and select the day to which you wish to copy the hour. Re-open the Hours menu and select the hour you wish to overwrite. Re-open the Hours menu and click on Replace.
Add a Day: Under Days on the toolbar, click on Add Day. The new day will appear at the end of your drive, but will not have formatted hours in it. Copy a previous day and "replace" the new day with the copied day (see below). Adding a new day will not interfer with data already entered in your grid.
Copy an Entire Day to Another Day: From the Days menu on the toolbar select the day you wish to copy. Re-open the Days menu and click on Copy Selected Day. Re-open the Days menu and select the day that you wish to overwrite. Re-open the Days menu and click on Replace.
Copy a Day or Hour from an Old Drive to a New One: Same as above. However, you may have trouble if the day you are copying doesn't "exist" in the drive you will paste to. Ex: You want to copy Day 7 from your Fall drive to Day 3 of your Winter drive and your Winter drive has only three days. In this case, try copying the desired Fall Day 7, and return to Fall Day 1, then open Winter, select Day 3 and paste as above.
Script/Bin Highlighter: To highlight all of the placements of a particular script in the grid, select the script title in its bin and open the Case or Close highlighter pull-down menu to select Script. Scripts will stay highlighted until you deselect the highlighter feature. To see placement of all scripts from a particular bin, select that bin, then choose Bin from the highlighter pull-down menu.
Unwanted Yellow Highlighting of Script IDs: This quirk can show up when a grid is "squeezed" by a large grid. It will not affect your output. If you hit the F11 key to maximize the grid window, the yellow highlighting should disappear.
Crazy Looking Grid: If your grid suddenly appears strange - odd spaces, cells, etc. - find the last case or close message in the grid before the strange things appear. Open that script in the Script Editor window and convert it to Rich. Chances are that some unwanted HTML code is present. If so, delete the unwanted code and Save without converting the text back. Hopefully this will return the grid to normal.
